The following clips are a FASCINATING look at a real therapy session conducted by Carl Rogers. The woman is not an actor. I showed part 3 in class, after setting up the scene and talking about key aspects of the humanistic approach in class. You can see his "Active Listening" approach in action, and in part 3 alone, you can see how with his guidance Gloria is able to come to her own conclusion as to what she should do about being truthful with her daughter. Note her facial expressions, which show distress and sometimes relief. Pay attention to his empathy, genuineness, his body posture, attentiveness, and unconditional positive regard.
